"My pastoral visitations were rather long.... I worked out my own model for carrying out this pastoral responsibility. ... I worked out a particular pattern. The visitation always began with a welcome ceremony.... Then they took me to the church where I gave an address in order to establish a rapport with the people. The next day I first heard confessions for an hour or two, depending on the circumstances.
